i dont get whats so profound about this statement. can anyone explain? people who voluntarily commute some personal freedoms for security dont deserve to? why not?
@ emily: Because when people give up essential liberties, it's quite often not only their own liberties they are giving up but the essential liberties of all those around them as well. Even if it was just their own liberties they are giving up, then what exactly are they fighting for? It certainly can't be freedom. It's akin to burning down your house so it doesn't catch fire.

idk...i'd rather go thru 3 hr security checks than to have my plane blown up. but that's just me.
